Fullcan Sports Presents the 3rd Universal Taipei Open

The 3rd Universal Taipei Open, organized by Fullcan Sports, successfully took place from February 16 to 18, 2024, at Warehouse No. 4, Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, Taipei. This prestigious event, officially recognized as a Matchroom WNT ranking tournament, featured 128 elite players from around the world, competing for a total prize fund of $82,000.

 

A Star-Studded Lineup

The tournament attracted a stellar field, including over 30 international champions and more than 10 world champions. Nearly half of the top 30 players in the WNT rankings participated, along with seven elite players fresh from the inaugural Reyes Cup, bringing world-class excitement to the competition. The ultimate goal? The coveted championship title and the $20,000 grand prize.

  • Aloysius Yapp (Singapore) – Reyes Cup MVP
  • Wiktor Zielinski (Poland) – U.S. Open 8-Ball Champion

  • Francisco Sanchez Ruiz (Spain) – Former World Champion
  • James Aranas (Philippines) – 2023 World Cup of Pool Champion
  • Jeffrey Ignacio (Philippines) – Former Osaka Open Champion
  • Kunihiko Takahashi (Japan) – Former World Champion
  • Carlo Biado (Philippines) – Defending Universal Taipei Open Champion
  • Taiwan was well represented by Ko Ping Chung, Ko Pin Yi, and Ko Ping Han, the legendary Ko Brothers, along with other top Taiwanese players, fiercely defending their home turf.


An Electrifying Finale

After days of intense and thrilling battles, the 3rd Universal Taipei Open concluded on the night of February 18, leaving fans on the edge of their seats. In a gripping final, Jefrey Roda of the Philippines emerged victorious, defeating Ko Pin Yi to claim the championship title! Meanwhile, Francisco Sanchez Ruiz (Spain) and Ko Ping Chung (Taiwan) secured joint third place, rounding off an incredible tournament.
